Great success in Galati, Romania
This year a project concerning Stray Care was crowned with great success. The long term project in Galati, Romania was finished very successfully.
Projects concerning Stray Care in Romania are running the whole year through in different cities. Depending on the number of strays in these cities the needed project period is defined. A long term project over years is really only necessary in very big cities where the number of stray dogs is high.
Galati is the seventh largest city of Romania and therefore has a lot of stray dogs. Since 2002 VIER PFOTEN has been working here and since that time 19.000 dogs were castrated, vaccinated and medically treated if necessary. Because of this tremendous number of already castrated dogs it is not easy to find some non castrated animals here. This shows that the method of castrating and releasing stray dogs works very well and that it is possible with this method to sustainably manage the population size. This proves that the stray dog problem can be solved and this means a better live for humans and animals as well. Galati is a wonderful and great success for VIER PFOTEN and confirms us to do good work.
The long term project Galati is finished now and so it is possible to spread attention and bring our resources to other areas in Romania as well. Anyway regular visits to Galati are necessary to be sure that the situation remains so positive.
