Make LIONSROCK Tree-rific Campaign
Who doesn’t like sitting under a tree? Even our big cats enjoy a bit of shade.
September is Arbor Month in South Africa, and we celebrate Arbor Week from 1 to 7 September. National Arbor Week gives South Africans the opportunity to plant indigenous trees as a practical and symbolic gesture of sustainable environmental management. It is with this in mind that we are launching our Make LIONSROCK TREE-rific Campaign!
Trees play a vital role in our lives, and equally so at LIONSROCK. We would love to enrich the lives of the big cats at our project LIONSROCK Big Cat Sanctuary by adding more trees to their enclosures. The closer these enclosures are to their natural habitats, the better for their quality of life.
LIONSROCK Big Cat Sanctuary is a safe and natural environment, free from distress and suffering - where big cats who were involved in zoos, in private captivity and in the entertainment industry as well as the canned hunting industry - are free to live the remainder of their lives. Here they will not be sold and may not be bred or hunted. On this approximately 1,250 ha area, close to the city of Bethlehem in the Free State, more than 100 big cats have now found a place to call home. Here FOUR PAWS offers rescued lions and other big cats a secure and species appropriate place to live out their lives.

With your donations we can look forward to adding large indigenous trees to the LIONSROCK enclosures, and nurse saplings at our onsite nursery until they have acclimatized.
