Stray Animal Care project returns to Dej, Romania
The city of Dej has been visited by FOUR PAWS Stray Animal Care teams on various occasions in the past: now the project has returned for a ten day spell in April 2010, in which 341 animals received medical treatment and were castrated. The continuous monitoring of the city’s stray population and the exceptionally good cooperation with the city government are the keys to a very positive development of the situation on site. It is safe to say that the living standards for the dogs and cats on the streets of Dej have got considerably better – also because they are no longer perceived as a nuisance by the people who live there.
A demonstration of the skills of the former stray dogs now involved in FOUR PAWS’ Dogs For People project, which had already been a huge success in 2008, attracted 1000 young visitors this time. The sheer enthusiasm that these animals are capable of triggering particularly amongst kids is aspiring hope for the future! During this spell in Dej, the FOUR PAWS team was able to care for 246 dogs and 95 cats.
