Rescue Lions Juba and Micca
A happy ending: Two South African lions rescued after veld fire swept through their enclosures
FOUR PAWS welcomed two young lions, Micca and Juba, to LIONSROCK Big Cat Sanctuary on 13 September 2018, after they were left destitute when a fire swept through the enclosures of the breeding farm they were purchased by for security purposes.

A Big Veld Fire Burned Down the Lion Enclosure
Due to the sale of the land, the farm owner contacted FOUR PAWS for assistance. While looking for a suitable solution for the lions, tragedy struck when a big veld fire started on the farm and burned down everything in the lion enclosure. The lions, though scorched, had no other serious injuries. LIONSROCK Big Cat Sanctuary had to step in very quickly to secure them a safe space where they are now living out their lion lives in harmony with each other.

Living a Species Appropriate Life
Micca is a very relaxed lioness that loves to sit on her structures and sunbathe and be the lazy cat she was meant to be. On lovely, cool days she comes up to the fence to greet anyone passing her and Juba’s enclosure.
She loves to play but is also the jealous type and does not like it when Juba gets all the attention. She can often be found sulking when she feels that she did not get enough TLC.
