Adopt a Big Cat for your loved one at LIONSROCK
FOUR PAWS launches Big Cat Adoption Programme to help support animal welfare
Cape Town, 29 April 2025 - FOUR PAWS South Africa is thrilled to announce the launch of the Big Cat Adoption programme, an initiative designed to support the care and protection of rescued big cats at LIONSROCK Big Cat Sanctuary and give donors a unique opportunity to get to know these animals though access to exclusive and behind-the-scenes content. This symbolic adoption programme allows animal lovers to engage in a meaningful value-exchange effort, where they can adopt a big cat either for themselves or as a gift, contributing directly to the welfare of these majestic animals.
Through this programme, donors can symbolically adopt a big cat by choosing between two flexible donation options:
- Once-off donations – ideal for one-time contributions.
- Monthly donations – allowing for ongoing support.
As part of the programme, donors can opt to receive:
- Digital certificate and bag: Donors will receive a personalised digital certificate of adoption with a photograph of their adopted big cat as well as a handsome shopper featuring their adopted big cat. These items will be delivered to their door along with a thank-you and confirmation email.
- Optional plush toy: Donors have the choice to include a big cat plush toy as a reminder of their impactful donation or to forfeit this item if they prefer.
- Exclusive updates: Through regular emails, donors will be kept informed of their adopted big cat’s progress and be among the first to hear about any exciting developments related to the animal.
The big cat adoption programme represents a valuable way for donors to make a positive impact, and donations will go directly to support FOUR PAWS’ mission to protect big cats and promote animal welfare. This initiative will not only help cover the costs of food, shelter, and medical care but also contribute to advocacy efforts to secure better living conditions for those animals that don't yet have the special care provided at a true sanctuary such as LIONSROCK.

The sanctuary encompasses a total area of 1,250 hectares. The land is also inhabited by other typical South African species that live freely like zebras and antelopes, as well as a wide variety of bird species that have found refuge on the property.
